Alexandre Diop (born 1995 in Paris) is a French-Senegal artist. Sharing his life and his creation between Vienna and Senegal, he develops a deeply multidisciplinary artistic practice, combining painting, sculpture and collages of recovered materials (wood, metal, paper, leather, textiles) which he transforms into powerful and expressive works. Diop describes his work as« images – objects », created from objects found on the street, workshops or urbanized areas, which he assembles by superimposition, burn, staple and painting to explore topics such as heritage, beauty, violence and social transformation. His work of dialogue with the history of art (Dada, Art Brut, Expressionism, Vienna Secession), while integrating references to West African aesthetic traditions and contemporary urban culture. He presented personal exhibitions at the Josephinum in Vienna and at the Rubell Museum in Miami, and participated in numerous projects in Paris and the United States, consolidating his creation as one of the most dynamic voices in the contemporary art scene.
