Serge Poliakoff

Serge Poliakoff is one of the great figures of the French abstraction of the post-war period. His work is characterized by compositions of intertwined forms, with irregular contours, built by subtle harmonies of colours. Refusing any effect of depth or narration, Poliakoff develops a silent and balanced painting, where each color finds its right place. His work, rigorous and sensitive, is part of a search for unity and visual stability.
